Job summary

University of St Andrews is seeking a committed Post-doctoral Research Fellow to work on a NERC-funded project examining amorphous calcium carbonate precursor phases and their influence on palaeoproxy chemistry in marine calcifiers.

The role involves CaCO3 precipitation experiments, TEM visualization of ACC formation and transformation, and detailed trace element/isotope geochemistry analyses, with collaboration across St Andrews and Edinburgh. PhD in relevant sciences is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in earth/physical/chemical/biological sciences with expertise in mineral precipitation or trace element/isotope geochemistry or electron microscopy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct CaCO3 precipitations to characterize fluid environments for ACC formation.
• Visualise ACC formation/transformation using TEM.
• Analyse trace elements and isotopes in mineral phases formed via ACC precursors.
• Collaborate with University of St Andrews and University of Edinburgh, contribute to data analysis, publications and conferences.
• Supervise student researchers where appropriate.
