Job summary

University of Southampton is inviting applications for a Research Fellow in Synthetic Organic Chemistry to work on a biomimetic synthesis project focused on meroterpenoids. The postdoctoral role supports the George Group and is based in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or be near completion, with strong experience in multi-step synthesis, purification and structural characterisation.

Qualifications

• PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or near completion.
• Strong expertise in organic synthesis including multi-step synthesis, reaction optimisation, purification and structural characterisation.
• Experience in total synthesis, catalysis, photochemistry and/or mechanistic studies advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Join the George Group in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Southampton.
• Contribute to the running and maintenance of the laboratory.
• Present research at national and international conferences and contribute to publications.
• Develop mentoring and leadership skills within the group.
