Job summary

University of Southampton invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Fellow to work in the George Group within the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, focusing on biomimetic synthesis of meroterpenoids.

The successful candidate will contribute to advanced training in synthetic organic chemistry, participate in publications and conferences, and engage in mentoring within the group at the University of Southampton.

Qualifications

• PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or close to completion.
• Strong expertise in organic synthesis including multi-step synthesis, purification and structural characterisation.
• Experience in total synthesis, catalysis, photochemistry and/or mechanistic studies is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out synthetic organic chemistry research including multi-step sequences.
• Optimise reactions and purify products; characterise structures.
• Collaborate with group and external partners to advance the project aims.
