Job summary

University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science, seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant for a fixed-term position to 30 November 2027 in the MMC Laboratory. The project investigates pathways to hydroxyapatite remineralisation using 4D microscopy and microfluidics.

The candidate should hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion in materials chemistry/science/engineering with experience in biomineralization, crystallization, microfluidics and spectroscopy, and be prepared for

Qualifications

• Doctorate (PhD/DPhil) or near completion in materials chemistry/science/engineering.
• Strong background in biomineralization and/or crystallization chemistry, microfluidics, solution synthesis, and spectroscopic techniques (Raman/IR).
• Prepared to engage in complex experimental campaigns (e.g. at synchrotron).

Responsibilities

• Drive the remineralisation research project and experimental campaigns.
• Perform 4D microscopy and microfluidics experiments to map pathways.
• Collect, analyse and interpret Raman and IR spectroscopic data.
• Prepare findings for dissemination in reports and publications.
