University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science, seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work in the Impact and Shock Mechanics Laboratory at Begbroke. The post is a fixed-term 12-month appointment funded by EPSRC, focusing on real-time X-ray imaging of strength effects under shock loading, in collaboration with Imperial College London, Oxford Physics and the University of York.

• Strong scientific and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct real-time X-ray imaging studies of strength effects under shock loading.
• Collaborate with Imperial College London, Oxford Physics and University of York.
• Contribute to in-house and offsite experiments on materials under extreme conditions (hypervelocity impact).
• Work across impact engineering, shock physics and fusion science projects.
