Job summary

Royal Mail in Ashford is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour week with rotating shifts, including Sundays. You will work outdoors in all weather, walking long distances and driving a Royal Mail van daily. Full manual UK driving licence required and full training provided.

Location: Ashford TN DO, TN23 1AB

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:00 - 15:00 or 14:00 -20:30, Sundays 12:30 - 19:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Ashford Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
