Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Ashington for a fixed-term 6-month contract. The role requires a full manual UK driving licence and involves delivering letters and parcels, working outdoors in all weather, and a rotating 5-in-7 shift schedule with some weekends.

You will be paid £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) with overtime available and a 30-hour week. Full training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van are provided to support your daily duties.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
