Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Chepstow is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a 37-hour rota across Monday to Sunday. The role is fixed-term for six months and includes weekends, with Sundays worked at Newport East Delivery Office. Training, a red Royal Mail van and a supportive team await you.

You'll sort mail, build customer relationships, and work outdoors in all weather. A full manual UK driving licence and ability to pass a driving assessment are essential.

Location: Chepstow Delivery Office, NP16 5XA

Job type: Fixed Term contract for six months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 37:00 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:50/16:20*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
