Job summary

Royal Mail in Bury is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift. You’ll work 30 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with a 14:30-20:30 shift and a 9 month fixed term contract.

You’ll sort mail at the delivery office, drive a Royal Mail van, and walk in the local area, building relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers. Training, a uniform, and a red van are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Able to pass a driving assessment and drive a Royal Mail van daily.
• Physically fit for long walks and lifting 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
