Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Rossendale for a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will sort letters and parcels, and deliver by van and on foot to customers in your local area.

You’ll work 30 hours per week across five days in seven, including some weekend shifts and Sundays at Blackburn Delivery Office 1 in a 1-in-4 rotation. Training is provided; you’ll be outdoors in all weathers delivering mail and parcels.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) registered to your current name and address.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Location: Rossendale Delivery Office, BB4 7LU

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00/21:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Blackburn Delivery Office 1 in every 4 Sundays.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You
