Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Wigan is hiring a Part-time Postie to deliver letters and parcels. The role operates on a rotating shift schedule, 30 hours weekly, across 5 days in 7 with 1 in 3 Sundays, and pays £13.68 per hour plus overtime. Full manual UK driving licence required and training provided.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 8:15am-3:30pm or 3pm-9pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 1 in 3 Sundays at WiganDelivery Office between 11am-5pm.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
