Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) at Heswall Delivery Office. You'll sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot in Wirral, and build relationships with customers.

This role is outdoors, requires independence, reliability, and strong organisational skills, and involves working a rotating schedule including Sundays and weekends. The position is a fixed-term, 6-month contract with a 30-hour week, 7:30–15:30, and a starting rate of £13.68 per hour, with paid overtime

Qualifications

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Prenton Delivery Office.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
