Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Part-time Postie for Whitby to deliver letters and parcels across the local area. The role is 30 hours per week on a rotating schedule, including weekends, with a fixed-term 6-month contract and a starting rate of £13.68 per hour plus paid overtime. Full UK driving licence required and full training provided.

You’ll work outdoors in all weathers, delivering by van and on foot, building relationships with customers and representing Royal Mail in the community.

Job type: Fixed Term contract ( 6 months )

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days across Monday - Sunday – 10:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Scarborough Delivery Office, Y011 1AA, 6 hrs between 10am and 7pm

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
