Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Castleford for a fixed-term 6‑month contract. The role is 30 hours per week on rotating shifts, including weekends, with a £13.68 hourly rate and overtime available; 14:00-20:00 shifts and Sundays 12:30-18:30.

You'll sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers. Full training and a uniform are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Saturday - 14:00-20:00 and Sunday 12:30-18:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 12:30-18:30 Sundays on a rota basis.

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
