Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Wetherby is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term basis (6 months). Pay is £13.68 per hour for 30 hours per week, with overtime available, paid monthly. Working 5 days in 7 (08:40–15:10).

You'll sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, build relationships with customers and work outdoors in all weather. You must have a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 points) and be able to pass a driving assessment.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract(06 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:40/15:10*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
