Job summary

Royal Mail Wadebridge is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels from Wadebridge Delivery Office. The role is 30 hours per week on a rotating shift, including weekends, with full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van provided.

You will deliver across the local area, work outdoors in all weather, and join a supportive team while staying active and connected to the community.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) and able to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to lift 10kg+ mailbags and walk long distances.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused in a busy outdoor role.
• Strong organisation skills and resilience for a busy environment.

Location: Wadebridge Delivery Office, PL27 7AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00/18:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Wadebridge Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
