Job summary

Royal Mail are hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Thornhill on a fixed-term contract. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, building strong relationships with customers in your local area.

The role involves 35 hours per week on a rotating shift, including some weekends, with overtime. A full manual UK driving licence and driving assessment are required, plus the ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Location: Thornhill Delivery Office, DG3 5LJ
Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months
Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 35:00 hours per week – working 5 days across Monday - Sunday – 08:30pm/17:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.
You’ll may be required to work out of (Sanquhar Post Office 41 High Street, Sanquhar, DG4 6DJ) on an infrequent but sometimes necessary basis.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
