Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie in Bellshill for a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in the local area, working outdoors and building relationships with customers.

You will work a rotating schedule, 30 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with weekends and overtime. A full manual UK driving licence is required, and you must be ready to drive a Royal Mail van daily.

Location: Bellshill Delivery Office, ML4 1BB

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 10am/4pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays as per the rota.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)


• Driving a Royal Mail van daily


• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment


• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
