Job summary

Royal Mail in Sudbury (CO10 2GT) is seeking a Postie to join a fixed-term 12-month contract. You'll deliver letters and parcels across Sudbury, working a 37-hour week on a rotating schedule that includes weekends, with overtime opportunities.

You'll wear the uniform, drive a Royal Mail van, and build relationships with customers while staying active outdoors in all weather. Training is provided, and there are strong pension and wellbeing benefits.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) registered to your name and address.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills and lift 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated with strong organisational skills.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 months)
Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37:00 hours per week - working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:15/15:30*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods
  

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:
