Job summary

Royal Mail in Strabane is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating schedule, including weekends and early starts.

You’ll be outdoors in all weathers, walking long distances and driving a Royal Mail van, while building relationships with customers and keeping to route deadlines. Full training is provided.

Qualifications

Location: Strabane Delivery Office, BT82 8AA Job type: Permanent contract Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 6 across Monday - Saturday – 08:00/17:00* Looking for a delivery driver job where you can stay active, connected to your community, and enjoy great benefits? You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
