Job summary

Royal Mail in Ramsgate is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our team, delivering letters and parcels while staying active in the community. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers in the local area.

The role involves a 32‑hour week with a rotating shift, some weekends, and full training. A full UK manual driving licence and ability to pass a driving assessment are required.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.

Location: Ramsgate Delivery Office, CT11 7RA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 32.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30 - 15:30/14:00 - 20:40*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
