Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Orpington for a permanent, full-time role. You will work 30 hours per week across a 5-day rota, with weekend shifts and early/late blocks. You’ll sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and interact with customers in your local area.

Full training and a uniform are provided. A manual UK driving licence is required, and you must be physically able to walk long distances and lift mailbags.

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting/carrying 10kg+ mailbags.

Job description

Location: Orpington Delivery Office, BR6 0PJ

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00 - 15:30, 12:00 - 20:00.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays between 10:00 and 18:00.
