Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Okehampton is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term contract (9 months). You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers on your route.

The role is 35 hours per week, with a rotating shift pattern across Monday to Sunday, including Sundays when required. Training, a uniform, and a red van are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, lifting 10kg+ mailbags

Location: Okehampton Delivery Office, EX20 1HW

Job type: Fixed Termcontract(9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 35.00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday hours 07:24 - 15:30

Sunday hours:10:30 - 17:00 - when required

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Okehampton Delivery Office - when required.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
