Royal Mail is hiring a Delivery Postie at the Glaisdale Parkway Delivery Office in Nottingham. The role is a fixed-term contract for 19 months, 30 hours per week over 5 days in 7, with shifts 08:00–15:30 on weekdays and 10:00–16:00 Sundays.

You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and engage with customers across your local area. You will be trained, provided with a uniform and a red Royal Mail van, and must have a full manual UK licence.

Location: Glaisdale Parkway Delivery Office, NG8 4GB

Job type: Fixed Term contract 19 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday, Monday to Saturday between 08:00 and 15:30, Sunday between 10:00 and 16:00.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
