Royal Mail is hiring a Postie at Anerley Delivery Office (SE20 8AA) on a fixed-term contract for 9 months. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van or on foot, and build relationships with customers in your local area. The role requires working outdoors in all weather and includes weekend shifts and a rotating schedule.

Expect 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, with shifts from 07:00 to 22:00. Salary is £16.24 per hour, paid monthly, plus overtime.

Location: Anerley Delivery Office, SE20 8AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract - 9 months

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00/22:00

The shift patterens will be between - 07:00 to 15:00 or 14:00 to 22:00 which will be explained at interview

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work on Sundays, 1 every month, 12:00 to 18:00

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

As a Postie, you’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.
