Royal Mail Group in Ilkley is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9‑month contract. You will sort letters, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers across a rotating schedule that includes weekends. A full UK driving licence is required, and you’ll work outdoors in all weathers.<\/p>

The role is 30 hours per week, with an indicative pay of £13.68 per hour plus overtime, paid monthly. Training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van are provided.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
