Royal Mail Group is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Hook. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot in your local area, and sort mail at the delivery office. The role is physically demanding, outdoors in all weather, with a rotating shift and weekend work.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform and a company van. A full UK manual driving licence (max 6 penalty points) is required, along with reliability and strong customer focus.

Location: Hook Delivery Office, RG27 9ZZ

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 37.00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:30/15:30*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
