Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Holmfirth is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels in the local area. You’ll sort mail, drive a Royal Mail van, and walk to deliver to customers, building relationships and working outdoors in all weathers.

The role is 30 hours per week on a rotating shift, including weekends, with a fixed-term contract of 9 months. A full manual UK driving licence is required, with up to 6 penalty points, and driving assessment will be provided.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 30 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:30/16:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You may be required to work Sundays at HuddersfieldDelivery Office.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
