Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for Deeside, delivering letters and parcels on a 30-hour week. This fixed-term contract lasts 6 months with overtime opportunities. Expect a rotating schedule, weekend work, and a route-based rota.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, fitness for long walks, and a willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily. Training, a uniform, and a red van are provided.

Location: Deeside Delivery Office, CH5 2ZA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 8.30/15.30*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at ChesterDelivery Office.

What to expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
