Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bridport for a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will work 37 hours per week across five days in seven, including some weekend shifts, delivering letters and parcels in the local area and building strong customer relationships.

You will receive full training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van to use on your routes, with allowance for weather exposure and physical activity as part of the role.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and organised for a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour * (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30/17:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Dorchester Delivery Office.

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
