Job summary

Royal Mail in Brentwood is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 12‑month contract. You will work a 37-hour week on a rotating shift including weekends, with start times 07:00–15:00 or 13:00–21:00, and Sundays at Brentwood Delivery Office.

A full manual UK driving licence and ability to pass a driving assessment are required. As you deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, you will stay active, build relationships with customers, and work outdoors in all weather.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00-15:00/13:00 -21:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Brentwodd Delivery Office and the shift pattern would be from 10:00/18:00*

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
