Royal Mail Group is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) at Garstang Delivery Office. This fixed-term role for 10 months offers 30 hours per week across Monday to Sunday with rotating shifts and overtime, delivering letters and parcels on foot or by van in the local area.

You'll need a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 points), be physically fit for long walking distances, and enjoy delivering great service to your community.

Location: Garstang Delivery Office, PR3 1YA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 10 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:30/16:00*, Christmas Period will require later shifts.

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at GarstandDelivery Office once every 4 weeks.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
