Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bathgate to deliver letters and parcels. The role is a fixed term 9-month contract with a 35-hour week, 09:30–16:30, across Monday to Saturday, with some weekend work and rotating shifts.

You will sort items, drive a Royal Mail van, walk routes, build customer relationships and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Training is provided, with benefits and overtime available.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 35:00hours per week – working 5 days across Monday - Saturday – 09:30am/16:30pm*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
