Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bathgate for a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will sort mail at the delivery office, deliver by van and on foot in the local area, and build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather.

You will work a 35-hour week with a rotating shift across Monday to Saturday. A full manual UK driving licence is required, and a driving assessment will be part of the process.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 35:00 hours per week - working 5days across Monday - Saturday - 09:30am/16:30pm*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
