Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bonnyrigg to deliver letters and parcels. You will work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends, with a 30-hour week and a fixed-term contract of nine months. You will receive training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van to use on your routes.

The role involves outdoor work in all weather, building customer relationships, and maintaining a high standard of service. overtime is available and earnings are paid monthly.

Qualifications

Location: Bonnyrigg Delivery Office, EH19 3EX

Job type: Fixed Term contract(9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:30/16:30*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
