Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Ashford for a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in the local area, working 30 hours per week across five days, with some weekend shifts.

Full training, a uniform, and a rotatable shift pattern are provided. A full manual UK driving licence is required, along with reliability, fitness to walk long distances, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. Overtime is paid.

Location: Ashford Tn Delivery Office, TN23 1AB

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00 - 15:00/14:00 - 20:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sunday afternoon shifts on a rotational basis.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
