Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Aberdeen at Bridge Of Don Delivery Office to sort and deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot. The role is 37 hours per week on a rotating shift, Monday to Sunday, with weekends on rotation and Sundays at Bridge of Don.

This fixed-term contract lasts 9 months and pays £13.68 per hour, with paid overtime available and monthly pay. You’ll work outdoors in all weather, build relationships with customers, and be the face of our trusted

Qualifications

• A UK manual driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Ability to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30 - 15:30/09:00 - 16:30*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
