Job summary

Royal Mail in Glasgow requires a Postie (Delivery Driver) to sort mail, deliver by van and on foot in the local area, and build relationships with customers. You will work outdoors in all weather, with a rota that confirms hours and routes.

Training is provided, and you’ll join a trusted team delivering letters and parcels daily. The role offers 30-hour weeks, 8:45–14:45 shifts across seven days, with paid overtime and a permanent contract.

Qualifications

  • Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) and registered to your current name and address.
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
  • Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
  • Reliable and self-motivated in a busy environment.
  • Strong organisation and resilience with customer focus and pride in delivering great service.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Overview

Location: Glasgow G1-5 Delivery Office, G4 0AA

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available

Working hours: 30 hours per week — 5 days in 7 across Monday to Sunday, 08:45–14:45

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

  • Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
  • Driving a Royal Mail van daily
  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
  • Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods
About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
