Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Aldershot to deliver letters and parcels on a daily route. You’ll work outdoors, in all weathers, and join a rotating shift that includes weekends.

Full training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van are provided. A UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points is required, plus the ability to pass a driving assessment and handle up to 10 kg+ mailbags.

Location: Aldershot Delivery Office, GU11 1AA

Job type: Permanentcontract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -07:00 - 15:00/12:00 - 19:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work 1 in 3 Sundays at Goldsworth Park Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
