Job summary

The University of Birmingham is seeking a Research Grants Finance Officer to support post-award financial administration for externally funded projects. You will monitor budgets, prepare claims and reports, and liaise with academic leads and funders to ensure timely, compliant delivery.

Working within the Research Strategy & Services Division, you will contribute to continuous improvement and deliver high-quality service while supporting auditing and governance processes.

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications).
• Evidence of numeracy and literacy, with the ability to write clearly, and to analyse information and data.
• Knowledge of the UK research funding ecosystem; desirable but not essential.
• Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in improving processes and delivering outcomes.
• Excellent IT skills and Excel is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial support across the post award lifecycle for a defined portfolio of project grants.
• Budget monitoring, claims, reporting and project closure.
• Build positive relationships with academic colleagues and project managers.
• Manage financial claims and monitoring for your portfolio, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Support preparation for audits and liaise with external funders as needed.
• Promote equality and values diversity in the workplace.
