Job summary

RM Recruit is partnered with a Birmingham-based charity to recruit a Financial Controller - Projects & Grants. The role provides organisation-wide financial control, oversight and reporting across an international portfolio.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will lead strategic financial leadership, donor compliance, risk management and audit readiness, with responsibility for a dedicated finance team and ERP development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, ICAEW, ICMA, CMA or equivalent).
• Senior-level experience leading and managing finance functions or teams.
• Experience in financial reporting, financial control, budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.
• Experience managing project and grant finances, ideally within an international NGO, charity or similarly complex environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial oversight and control across the full project and grant lifecycle.
• Manage ledger activity, reconciliations and month/year-end processes.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across the portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, statutory obligations and internal policies.
• Oversee project and grant financial reporting with clear analysis for senior stakeholders.
• Provide financial advice and business partnering support to regional teams.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks and strengthen the control environment.
• Lead preparation of statutory financial information for project/grant activity.
