Job summary

RM Recruit is assisting a Birmingham-based charity to recruit a Finance & Grants Officer who will oversee grants, project finance and financial controls across donor-funded projects.

You will work with Finance, Regional, and Country teams to ensure strong governance, accurate reporting, and compliance with donor requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• ACCA/CIMA or equivalent professional qualification or working towards.
• Experience in grant or project finance and financial management lifecycle.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP/finance systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee setup and management of projects, grants, budgets and financial structures in the ERP system.
• Monitor expenditure against budgets, flag variances and risks for donor-funded projects.
• Process billing, income and fund transfers with proper documentation.
• Review donor reports for compliance with grant and SLA requirements.
• Support project closure, reconciliations and audit-ready documentation.
• Collaborate with regional teams to monitor fund flows and support delivery.
• Provide accurate financial analysis to support decision-making and process improvements.

RM Recruit is delighted to be partnering with a Birmingham-based charity client to recruit a Finance & Grants Officer to join its finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with experience across grants, project finance and financial controls, looking to take on a role with responsibility for an assigned portfolio of donor-funded projects and grants.

Working closely with Finance, Regional and Country teams, you will provide central financial oversight across the grant and project lifecycle, ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting and compliance with donor requirements.

Main duties include:

• Supporting the setup and management of projects, grants, budgets and financial structures within the ERP system.
• Monitoring project expenditure against budgets and highlighting variances and financial risks.
• Managing billing, income and fund transfer processes, ensuring accurate supporting documentation.
• Reviewing project financial reports prior to donor submission and ensuring compliance with grant and SLA requirements.
• Supporting project closure, reconciliations and audit-ready financial documentation.
• Working with Regional Finance, AP/AR, Treasury and other stakeholders to monitor fund flows and support project delivery.
• Providing accurate financial information and analysis to support decision‑making.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and data quality.
• Championing the effective use of ERP systems, technology and digital finance solutions.

As the ideal candidate, you will be working towards ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent and possess experience across grant or project finance and the financial management lifecycle. Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, General Ledger accounting and balance sheet control is desirable however, candidates who possess strong Excel skills and experience using financial systems; ERP experience is desirable. You will be a confident communicator and possess excellent analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail.

This is a varied finance role contributing to a wider finance function focused on continuous improvement, digital transformation and strong financial governance.
