Job summary

UPP Ltd on Reading University campus is seeking a Part-time Post Room Assistant to manage mail for residents and staff, support reception duties, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment on site. This permanent role is Monday–Friday with some weekend work and a salary of £12.98 per hour.

The role requires strong communication and administration skills, attention to detail, and a flexible approach to additional hours during peak times.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role with strong communication and administration skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods such as student arrivals and departures.
• Ability to work as part of a team and support residents and staff with a professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, distribute and manage mail parcels for residents and staff
• Maintain and update records and registers (manual and computerised) as required
• Notify residents and staff about post and deliveries
• Keep the working environment tidy and well maintained at all times
• Provide prompt help, information and advice to residents and staff
• Assist with reception duties as required
• Comply with health and safety policies and work safely
• Be prepared to join emergency contact list and support out-of-hours duties including door/fire alarm panels

Post Room Assistant

We currently have an opportunity for a Post Room Assistant to join our fantastic UPP team onsite at Reading University. This is a permanent, part- time position working from Monday to Friday. Some weekend work may be required. The salary is £12.98 per hour.

Role responsibilities include:

• Responsible for the secure receipt, sorting, distribution and management of mail parcels for residents and staff
• Maintain and update various records and registers both manual and computerised as required
• Provide appropriate notification of post to residents and staff as required
• Ensure that the working environment is properly maintained and kept tidy at all times
• Provide prompt and effective help, information, and advice for all residents, and staff
• Assist with reception duties as and when requested
• Comply with health and safety, ensure work is performed in a safe manner
• Prepared to be added to an emergency contact list to assist in emergencies out of hours which may include manning a door or fire alarm panel

We are looking for you to have worked in a similar role and environment with great communication and administration skills with excellent attention to detail. Most of all you will have the passion to work as a team to do an excellent job to our students and staff. You will also be flexible to work (with notice) to work additional hours when the need arises, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.
