Job summary

Axcis Education is recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Post-16 SEND college in DA17. This full-time, term-time role involves 1:1 and small group support for students aged 16+ with SEND, including ASD and ADHD, across vocational subjects.

No formal TA qualification is required, but experience with SEND is highly desirable. The role focuses on developing independence, employability, confidence and essential life skills inside and outside the classroom.

Qualifications

• No formal Teaching Assistant qualification required, but experience with SEND is desirable.
• Experience supporting young people with ASD/ADHD and additional learning needs preferred.
• Excellent communication, patience and empathy are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND.
• Support learners during vocational lessons such as cooking, arts and crafts, life skills, and employability programmes.
• Encourage participation, engagement and independence in learning activities.
• Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Help students develop confidence and practical life skills.
