Job Title: Post 16 Learning Support Assistant

Location: Heath Farm College, Maidstone ME16 0ER

Salary: GBP18,118.75 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

We are seeking a dedicated Post 16 Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Heath Farm College, part of Acorn Education, as part of our growth.

About the role
  • To support the learning and personal development of students, helping them access educational and life opportunities.
  • To demonstrate the College Values of Love, Commitment, and Opportunity daily.
Key Responsibilities
  • Clarify and explain instructions
  • Ensure students can use equipment and materials
  • Motivate and encourage students
  • Provide reassurance and support tailored to students' needs
  • Assist with specific learning skills (e.g., speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting)
  • Use praise and commentary to promote concentration and motivation
  • Liaise with tutors, teachers, and professionals regarding Student Learning Plans
  • Offer additional nurture when requested
  • Implement college protocols and model the College Code of Conduct
  • Help create resources to support students
Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Essential
    • Minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent
    • Good literacy and numeracy skills
    • Driving license
  • Desirable
    • NVQ Teaching Assistant or equivalent
    • Child Protection and Safeguarding Training
