Job summary

Dignus Group is seeking a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Coordinator to embed PBS across our residential and supported living services in the West Midlands. The role involves coaching staff, developing person-centred PBS plans and analysing behavioural data to identify patterns for better outcomes.

You will work with the PBS Practitioner and Lead, travel across multiple services, and contribute to service improvement while pursuing ongoing development in PBS.

Qualifications

  • Experience in social care with PBS focus.
  • Experience in residential or supported living settings.
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel across sites.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and Mental Capacity Act understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Embed PBS across services with guidance from PBS Practitioner.
  • Develop, review and monitor person-centred PBS plans.
  • Coach teams on proactive and preventative support strategies.
  • Observe practice and analyse day-to-day PBS delivery.
  • Support PBS audits, data collection and quality monitoring.
  • Produce summary reports and escalate risks when needed.

As a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Coordinator, you'll play an important role in helping to embed Positive Behaviour Support across our services, working alongside our PBS Practitioner and PBS Lead to improve the quality of life of the people we support.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in social care who is passionate about Positive Behaviour Support and looking to develop specialist knowledge and skills. You'll receive mentoring, supervision and ongoing development, giving you a clear pathway towards becoming a PBS Practitioner.

What the role involves:

As a PBS Coordinator, you'll work closely with the PBS Practitioner, operational teams and the people we support to help embed Positive Behaviour Support into everyday practice.

This includes:

  • Supporting the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support approaches across our services
  • Assisting with the development, review and monitoring of person-centred PBS plans
  • Helping teams consistently implement proactive and preventative support strategies
  • Conducting observations of support environments and day-to-day practice
  • Gathering information to support Functional Behaviour Assessments
  • Collecting and analysing behavioural data to identify patterns and trends
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports and PBS documentation
  • Providing on-the-job coaching to Support Workers and Team Leaders
  • Supporting the delivery of PBS awareness sessions and workshops
  • Encouraging reflective practice and learning following incidents
  • Supporting managers to embed person-centred and Active Support approaches
  • Participating in PBS audits, practice observations and quality monitoring activities
  • Reviewing behavioural incidents and supporting action plans to improve outcomes
  • Championing least restrictive approaches and promoting positive alternatives
  • Building positive relationships with individuals, families, advocates and multidisciplinary professionals
  • Supporting service reviews, transitions and quality-of-life planning
  • Producing summary reports and escalating risks or emerging concerns where appropriate

Working pattern:

This is a mobile role requiring regular travel across Dignus services.

You'll work alongside operational teams, providing practical, hands-on support within services while also spending time observing practice, analysing data, coaching colleagues and contributing to service improvement.

A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What we’re looking for:

We welcome applications from experienced Support Workers, Senior Support Workers, Team Leaders or Assistant Managers who are passionate about Positive Behaviour Support and looking to develop a specialist career.

You may be a great fit if you have:

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs or complex behaviours
  • A strong understanding of person-centred care and positive outcomes
  • Experience working within residential care, supported living or specialist services
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act
  • An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support principles
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and support documentation
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to coach, encourage and positively influence others
  • Good organisational, IT and data recording skills
  • A professional, empathetic and solution-focused approach
  • The ability to work independently across multiple services
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Dignus services

Experience delivering training or mentoring colleagues, supporting people with forensic, autism or complex behavioural needs, or knowledge of restrictive practice reduction frameworks would be advantageous.
