Job summary

Thera Trust seeks an experienced Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead to champion best practice across the organisation. You will influence strategy, support operational teams, reduce restrictive practices, and help ensure people with learning disabilities receive the highest quality of support to lead and live a great life.

The role is permanent with 39 hours per week, home-based with UK-wide travel, and requires a Level 5 PBS qualification and proven training delivery experience.

Qualifications

• Level 5 qualification in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
• Trainer qualification or proven experience delivering PBS-related training.
• Qualification or substantial knowledge of restrictive practice reduction and BILD/RRN standards.
• Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and complex behavioural support requirements.
• Experience developing PBS plans, conducting functional behavioural assessments, and coaching teams.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, Active Support and person-centred approaches.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK.
• Master's Degree (Level 7) in PBS, Advanced Professional Diploma Level 6 in PBS, or equivalent specialist experience.
• Experience influencing senior leaders and leading organisational change.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop PBS practice across Thera.
• Act as Thera's Restraint Reduction Lead.
• Provide specialist advice, training and support to managers and teams.
• Oversee functional behavioural assessments and PBS plans.
• Review incidents, identify learning opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.
• Use data, audits and outcomes to measure impact and improve practice.
• Support complex placements, transitions and service developments.
