Job summary

AECOM is seeking enthusiastic apprentices to join our Ports Engineering teams. You’ll gain practical experience across the project lifecycle while working towards a recognised qualification in maritime infrastructure.

You’ll develop your skills with industry-standard software, BIM tools and digital engineering, while collaborating with engineers and designers on live projects and maintaining project records.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (grade C/4 or above) including Maths and English.
  • Three A-Levels (or equivalent) including Maths and a physical science where required for Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship.
  • Interest in civil, structural, coastal, marine or ports engineering and a desire to build a career in the industry.
  • Aptitude for technical software, engineering design and drawing, with CAD/BIM interest.
  • Basic proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, models and supporting documentation.
  • Support the design and development of port, harbour, marine and waterfront infrastructure.
  • Assist with technical calculations, specifications and design information.
  • Help collect, analyse and interpret site, survey and engineering data.
  • Support assessment and development of solutions for maritime infrastructure.
  • Participate in site visits, surveys and inspections to gather information.
  • Assist with technical reports, presentations and other project deliverables.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, designers and other professionals across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support project administration and maintain accurate project records.
  • Develop understanding of engineering standards, guidance, legislation and industry best practice.
