Job summary

Sheridan Maine is recruiting on behalf of an established Bedford accountancy practice for an experienced Portfolio Manager. You will manage a varied client portfolio across owner-managed businesses and SMEs, oversee statutory and management accounts, and review corporation tax computations, while building strong client relationships.

The role offers accounting, taxation and advisory responsibilities, the chance to develop junior colleagues, and close collaboration with Partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• ACA or ACCA qualification, or be qualified by experience.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation.
• Experience reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied portfolio of clients, including owner-managed businesses and SMEs.
• Overseeing the preparation and review of statutory accounts and management accounts.
• Reviewing corporation tax computations and returns.
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing practical accounting, taxation and business advice.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring a high standard of service.
• Managing workflow, deadlines and budgets to ensure assignments are delivered efficiently.
• Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and providing guidance and support.
• Working closely with Partners on client matters and identifying opportunities to provide additional services.
• Supporting the continued development and improvement of practice processes.
