Job summary

Sheridan Maine is working with a well-established accountancy practice to recruit an experienced Accounts Manager / Client Manager to take responsibility for an established portfolio of clients.

You’ll own client relationships, oversee accounting and tax requirements, and contribute to business development while supporting junior staff and driving service excellence.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in accountancy practice required.
• Experience managing a client portfolio and providing advisory services.
• Solid knowledge of accounts prep, corporation tax and VAT.
• Qualified (AAT/ACA/ACCA) or qualified-by-experience.

Responsibilities

• Managing and developing relationships across an established client portfolio
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing advice and support
• Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and corporation tax computations
• Overseeing VAT returns and key compliance deadlines
• Managing workflow and allocating work across the team

Sheridan Maine is working with a well-established and growing accountancy practice to recruit an experienced Accounts Manager / Client Manager to take responsibility for an established portfolio of clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone already working within accountancy practice who enjoys the client relationship and advisory side of their role and is looking for greater ownership, responsibility and longer-term progression.

The role

You’ll take ownership of a varied portfolio of SMEs, contractors and owner-managed businesses, becoming a trusted point of contact for your clients and overseeing the delivery of their accounting and tax requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing and developing relationships across an established client portfolio
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing advice and support
• Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and corporation tax computations

About you

We’d be particularly interested in hearing from experienced accountancy practice professionals who are confident managing client relationships and are ready to take greater ownership of a portfolio.

You may currently be working as an Accounts Manager, Client Manager, Senior Accountant, Practice Accountant or Senior Practice Accountant and be looking for the opportunity to progress.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience gained within an accountancy practice
• Experience managing or supporting a portfolio of clients
• Good knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax and VAT
• Confidence reviewing accounts and the work of more junior colleagues
• Strong client relationship and communication skills
• Experience supervising, coaching or mentoring team members
• AAT, ACA or ACCA qualification, although strong qualified-by-experience candidates will also be considered
